Brian has lived in Robin Hood’s Bay for 20 years, having been born and raised on a farm a little further up the coast. Paul Johnston developed a variety of local walks and smugglers talks in recent years and Paul, now living abroad, has handed the reins over to Brian.

Building on Paul’s extensive research into smuggling, Brian aims to seek out as much original source materials as possible – so often, the facts behind the fictions tell an even more gripping story that still affects us today.

There are also plans to bring out next year a range of “write your own adventure” books for younger ages to bring them a feel of the days when smuggling brought great wealth through and to the village.
